New National Office for Care and Support in Wales will direct National Care Service

The new National Office for Care and Support in Wales will support the Welsh Government to create a National Care Service for Wales, and implement the National Commissioning Framework for Care and Support in Wales.

The new office will bring together Wales’ 22 local authorities, social care service users and carers, the workforce, professional bodies, and key partners to work together to delivery national priorities, quality standards, particularly in relation to commissioning of care and support services. It will also support the integration of health and social care in Wales.

Albert Heaney, chief social care officer for Wales, said: ”It will help … to direct resources where they are most in need.” The national office is a shared priority between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.
